Sugar mill workers stage protest over delay in salary payment

Shamli: Financial situation of the Shamli sugar mill is deteriorating due to which the mill cannot clear cane dues and pay salaries to the workers, reports Live Hindustan.

The mill has not paid the salaries of the workers for the last two months. The workers on Wednesday launched a protest against the mill which owes dues worth Rs 2 crore including overtime and other wages. The situation was tense for some time as the workers quarrelled with the officials of the sugar mill.

The workers are agitating under the banner of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh. Vimal Sharma, president of the organisation said that there are around 950 employees in the mill that have not received their salaries for the last two months. The administration should take note of this and release their salaries, bonus, and other perks pending for last year, he said.
