Cooperative sugar mills in the state have shown better performance this season with recovery rate, said cooperative minister Dr Banwari Lal, reports Punjab Kesari.
Shahabad cooperative sugar mill has produced 7.50 lakh quintals of sugar with a recovery rate of 10.75%.
The sugar mill has cleared 80% of the cane dues of farmers worth Rs 263 crore and the remaining amount will be cleared soon, he said. The mill is crushing thousands of quintals of cane daily and also focussing on ethanol production. The mill has also achieved a target of producing 5 crore units of electricity.
