Pune: As the sugarcane crushing season is nearing an end the sugar mills from Kolhapur and Solapur division are closing their operations. As per the report released by the sugarcane commissionerate, a total of nine sugar mills have stopped cane crushing operations that include 8 from the Solapur division and one from the Kolhapur division.
For the on-going crushing season, 37 sugar mills from the Kolhapur division and 41 mills from the Solapur division had participated in the cane crushing operations till February 27.
According to the data provided by the commissionerate, total 187 sugar mills in the state participated in the cane crushing operations and have produced 839.81 lakh quintals of sugar by crushing 818.48 lakh tonne sugarcane. The sugarcane recovery rate has been reported at 10.26 per cent.
