Mills in Maharashtra produce 693 lakh quintal sugar so far

Sugar mills in Maharashtra are operating at a fast pace in the ongoing crushing season. As many as 194 sugar mills, including 96 cooperative mills and 98 private mills, are operating during the ongoing season against 190 sugar mills in the previous season. The mills, till January 27, 2022, have produced 693.56 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 692.31 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.02 per cent.

Solapur division is leading in the state in terms of operating maximum sugar mills. A total of 45 mills from the division have produced 148.23 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 164.11 lakh tonnes of sugarcane.

Kolhapur division is leading in the state in terms of sugar production and sugar recovery. Mills from the division have produced 188.58 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 165.21 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.41 per cent.
