Pune: Crushing season is in the final phase in Maharashtra. As per the data published by the sugar commissionerate, 140 sugar mills have closed their operations.
According to the news report published in Indianexpress.com, sugar output in Maharashtra is likely to 105-07 lakh tonne for the ongoing crushing season. The state’s sugar season is expected to end on May 31, as per a forecast by Sugar Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad.
As per the data published by the sugar commissionerate total of 188 sugar mills participated in the cane crushing operations and have produced 1041.54 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 993.74 lakh tonne sugarcane till April 15 with a recovery rate of 10.48%.
The cane crushing is likely to continue further till May end considering the abundance of sugarcane in the state.
Mills from the sugar bowl region of the state including Kolhapur, Sangli and Satara have ended their season. The majority of mills from Pune are in the final phase of crushing.
