Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Solapur has come to an end with all the sugar mills closed their crushing operations. According to the sugar commissionerate, a total of 189 sugar mills took part in the sugarcane crushing operations in Maharashtra in the ongoing season. These mills have produced 1024.83 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 979.06 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery of 10.47% till April 7, 2021.
All the 43 sugar mills from Solapur have stopped operations taking the number of closed mills in the state to 111. Sugar mills in Solapur have produced 164.64 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 175.66 lakh tonne sugarcane.
The other mills that have stopped operations include 31 from Kolhapur, 13 from Nanded, 12 from Pune, 7 from Ahmednagar and 2 each from Aurangabad and Amravati and one mill from Nagpur.
