Sugarcane crushing season in Uttar Pradesh is at the final stage and the state has reported lower sugar output in the current season.
According to the government data, sugar mills in the state have produced 97.68 lakh tonnes of sugar by crushing 967.54 lakh tonnes of sugarcane till April 26, 2022. In the ongoing season, the mills have cleared cane dues worth Rs 22957.50 crore which is 72 per cent of the total pending dues.
In previous season, the mills had produced 110.59 lakh tonnes of sugar by crushing 1027.50 lakh tonnes sugarcane.
India has set a new record in sugar production and export this season. Maharashtra has registered significant growth in sugar output and it is leading, among the other states, in the country.
