Sugar mills owe Rs 202 crores of cane dues

Garhmukteshwar, Uttar Pradesh: Farmers in the Garhmukteshwar area are protesting due to unpaid sugarcane payments from Simbhaoli sugar mill. The mill owes farmers Rs 202 crores of cane dues, reported Amar Ujala.

Farmers have been protesting for months, but their demands for payment have been ignored by the mill management and government officials. The farmers say that they are struggling to make ends meet without the money they are owed.

In a statement, the mill’s general manager, Karan Singh, said that the mill is working to pay off the outstanding debt. He said that the mill is facing financial difficulties, but that it is committed to paying the farmers in full.

Farmers have been protesting for several years for the release of their pending cane dues. Yet, instead of rectifying their mistakes, sugar mills often halt payments, leaving the agriculturists grappling with financial distress. As the sugarcane season approaches, farmers express concerns about being unable to cover expenses, including school and college fees for their children.
