Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugar millers from Bijnor district cleared cane arrears worth Rs 38 crore to the sugarcane farmers.
According to the news report published in Amar Ujala, District sugarcane officer Yashpal Singh said, “On Thursday, the sugar mills have paid bills more than Rs 38 crore to the farmers. Seohara sugar mill has paid Rs 6.47 crore, Bilai sugar mill paid Rs 3.90 crore, Barkatpur sugar mill paid Rs 20 crore and Chandpur sugar mill paid Rs 8.06 crore to the farmers.”
He said that all the sugar mills have been asked to make payment as per the deadline.
Many sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh are still operating are likely to conclude the season soon. Mills are also facing the financial scarcity as sugar sales are down due to lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
