Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills in the district have urged the government to provide them with adequate cane required for crushing for the forthcoming season, reports Amar Ujala.
The Sugarcane Department has requested proposals from the sugar mills, outlining their required cane quantity for the next season, based on the cane cultivation area falling under their jurisdiction. Currently, the mills are actively collecting data on the cane cultivation areas from both the last and ongoing seasons.
Mills usually demand cane more than their capacity for crushing from the department. Earlier they used to not respond to the demand of the sugarcane department regarding the allocation of the cane for crushing. Now with the starting of a new mill in the district and the increase in the cane crushing capacity of the Bijnor mill, the mills are busy preparing the proposal that would be sent to Lucknow for approval.
