Bijnor: Sugar mills from the district have stated that they will clear the pending cane dues for the crushing season 2019-20 in January this year.
The millers made the assurance in a meeting called by the DM Ramakant Pandey to discuss the issue of pending cane dues.
Bhilai sugar mill is yet to pay Rs 45 crore, Chandpur mill Rs 39 crore, Bijnor mill Rs 25.94 crore and Najibabad sugar mill owes Rs 9.33 crore to the cane farmers.
The DM has asked the millers to clear the cane dues as early as possible and has warned that if the mills fail to clear dues, they will face stern action as per law. He also asked them to start payment of the cane bills for this season also.
Bhilai and Bijnor sugar mills have stated that they will clear all the cane dues by January 20. Najibabad mill has stated that all the dues will be cleared by January 11. Chandpur mill has assured of clearing dues by January 15.
