Saharanpur: Sugar mills in the district are all set to achieve the target of cane crushing this season, reports Live Hindustan.
According to the officials, less cane is available in the district for crushing and the mills have been asked to crush all the cane grown by farmers before closing their operations.
The district cane department has estimated that around 1.21 lakh quintals of cane would be crushed this season and six sugar mills began operations in the first week of November. Gangnoli mill has already closed operations on April 3 after crushing cane available in its jurisdiction.
A delay in cane crushing activities is worrying farmers as it would affect the cane yield.
