New Delhi: Assembly election in Haryana is round the corner, and politicians are leaving no stone unturned to attract the voters. Sugarcane farmers are also one of the major vote banks in the state. Now they are reaching to sugarcane farmers to make them count the steps taken by the government to strengthen farmers lives and sugar industry in the state.
State Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar also reached out to cane growers. Meeting the delegations of sugar mills and the sugarcane farmers, Khattar said, “Government provided all needed financial help to the sugar mills to clear sugarcane arrears. Earlier the mills which were running in miserable conditions are today running in profit. The attitude of the government towards sugarcane farmers and sugar mills have always been supportive.”
The Chief Minister has said that arrangements have been made to ensure that farmers do not face any problem in the upcoming sugar season.
In the month of August, sugarcane farmers, who gave their sugarcane to the private sugar mill in Ambala, had intensified their protest due to non-payment of cane arrears. They staged a demonstration outside the sugar factory demanding sugar mill to pay the dues of the 2018-2019 season at the earliest. The stir came to an end when Haryana cabinet announced the financial help of Rs 60 crore for the Naraingarh sugar mill.
