Obtaining permission to start cane crushing mandatory for sugar mills: Minister Shivanand Patil

Kalaburagi : All the sugar mills in the state should take permission from the government and start cane-crushing operations during or after November, said Shivanand Patil, Minister for Textiles and Sugarcane Development, reports The Hindu.

Addressing the press in Kalaburagi on Sunday, the Minister stated that the necessary instructions had already been issued to the relevant authorities and the sugar mills.

“The procedure for procuring and crushing sugarcane in the State had not been executed correctly. Premature harvesting leads to reduced yields. To achieve optimal results, it is essential to harvest and crush the cane at the appropriate time. This is why we have established a specific timeframe for cane harvesting and crushing this time,” Mr. Patil explained.
