Sugar output in India likely to be at 30 million tonnes next year: Marex

Dev Gill, an Agricultural Options Broker at Marex, states that India’s sugar production is expected to hit 30 million tonnes next year, reported CNBCTV18.

However because there’s a a high demand for sugar within India and the government is focusing more on making ethanol, sugar export will get less attention.

Gill explained that the government’s main concerns are meeting local demand and producing ethanol. Exporting sugar comes after that. So, unless the first two priorities are taken care of, exporting might not happen anytime soon.
