Sugar output likely to fall in Brazil

Sao Paulo: Consultancy Datagro stated that Brazil’s center-south region’s sugar output is likely to fall to 36.7 million tonnes in the new crop season that begins in April as compared to 38.5 million tonnes in the previous season.

According to Datagro, the unfavourable weather will impact the sugar output in the region. The sugarcane production will fall from 607 million tonnes in 2020/21 to 586 million tonnes in 2021/22. The Datagro also projects the lowering of ethanol production to 30.6 billion litres from the previous year of 29.4 billion litres.
