Sugar prices in Pakistan increased to Rs 100 per kg

Islamabad: The sugar prices across the country have increased to Rs 100 per kg, ARY News reported quoting the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

As per the data issued by PBS, the citizens in Islamabad are forced to purchase sugar at Rs 100 per kg. The prices of the sweetener were reported higher in other areas including Karachi, Peshawar, Rawalpindi and other parts of the country. Sugar was sold at Rs 90 per kg in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Quetta and Larkana.

The commodity was available at Rs 85 per kg in Sargodha, Multan and Bannu and Rs 88 per kg in Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Hyderabad. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in May 2022 ordered a ban on sugar export in Pakistan to stabilize the prices in the domestic market.
