The sugar prices in the domestic markets of Bangladesh have surged, reports local media.
The sugar prices in Khatunganj, the largest wholesale market in the country, have been increased to Tk100 per maund in the last three days. The importers hiked the price of sugar in the domestic market citing that rise in global market, said traders.
The cost of sugat was Tk 2,700 per maund (37.32 kg) three days ago which is now sold at Tk2, 800 per maund.
Sugar of Citigroup’s Igloo brand is sold at Tk2,760 while Meghna Group’s Fresh brand of sugar is at Tk2, 780 and S Alam sugar is sold at Tk2, 800.
