Sao Paulo: Sugar production in the Center-south region of Brazil rose by 7.6% in the second half of June compared to the same period during last year, as per the data released by the Industry group UNICA, reports Reuters.
The survey conducted by the S&P Global Commodity Insights had forecast sugar production at 2.88 million tonnes for the period.
During the mentioned period 43 million metric tons of sugarcane was crushed, up 2.2% compared to last year, said UNICA.
Ethanol production has seen a drop of 5.6% to 1.91 billion litres during the same period.
