Sao Paulo: Sugar output in Brazil for the 2022-23 season is likely to increase by 15 per cent to 40.28 million tonnes as the fields are recovering from the 2021 drought, said the government agency Conab.
According to Conab, the sugarcane crop in Brazil (including both Center-South and Northeast regions) would increase to 596 million tonnes, higher by 1.9% compared to 2021-22.
The ethanol output in the country is seen lower by 5.3% to 28.65 billion litres as less amount of cane would be diverted to ethanol production, said the agency.
According to Conab, the sugar mills are likely to use 14 per cent more cane for sugar production compared with the preceding season.
