The data released by the Sugar commissionerate shows that the sugar production in Maharashtra has crossed the 150 lakh quintal mark till November 24, 2021.
As of now, a total of 151 sugar mills, including 74 cooperative and 77 private, have participated in the crushing operations. The mills have produced 152.25 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 169.35 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.99 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum number of sugar mills operating during the ongoing crushing season. 35 sugar mills in Solapur division are operating as of now and have produced 30.54 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 36.95 lakh tonne sugarcane till November 23, 2021 with a recovery rate of 8.27 per cent.
