Prices of both the varieties of sugar surged at the Vashi wholesale market here today following sustained demand from stockists and bulk consumers.
Small sugar (S-30) advanced by Rs 70/36 per quintal to Rs 2,680/2,781 from Monday’s closing level of Rs 2,610/2,745.
Medium sugar (M-30) climbed by Rs 96/62 per quintal to Rs 2,798/2,902 from previous day’s price of Rs 2,702/2,840.
Following are today’s closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,680/2,781 (Rs 2,610/2,745).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,798/2,902 (Rs 2,702/2,840).
