Sugar trader robbed and shot: Delhi police arrest four

Delhi Police have arrested four individuals involved in robbing a sugar trader and shooting him when he resisted near Rohtak Road in Nangloi. The victim, Saurabh Gupta, was injured by a bullet.

As per media reports, the robbery occurred on September 1 as Gupta was approaching his car, parked across from a petrol pump. He was suddenly confronted by two masked men who tried to grab his bag containing a laptop and ₹8-10 lakh in cash.

“When Gupta resisted, one of the attackers shot him in the hip,” a police official said. The assailants then fled the scene on a motorcycle, assisted by an accomplice who was waiting nearby.

An FIR was filed at the Nangloi police station following the incident. The police reviewed over 1,100 CCTV recordings and used local intelligence to identify and apprehend the suspects.

Four days later, the police tracked down the suspects in Kirari. Raids at multiple locations led to the arrest of the primary suspects: Kuldeep (27), and Aryan (23).

During interrogation, Kuldeep and Aryan admitted to planning and carrying out the robbery with their accomplices Shivam Pandey (18) and Tirath (21). The police subsequently arrested Pandey and Tirath, recovering the firearm used in the crime—a country-made pistol—and ₹5.27 lakh in cash from various locations.

“The suspects confessed that they committed the robbery to repay loans and cover expenses for their girlfriends,” an official stated.

Further questioning revealed that the suspects had used a stolen motorcycle for the crime and spent a significant portion of the stolen money during a trip to Manikaran and Kasol.

The four suspects have been placed under a four-day police remand.
