Saharanpur: The Uttar Pradesh police along with crime branch arrested nine absconding persons wanted in a loot case.
They were accused of lotting sugar laden truck in Saharanpur.
The incident took place three months ago while truck loaded with sugar from Gangnauli sugar mill was on its way to the destination.
Police have recovered cartridges, mobile phones and truck papers from the possession of the accused.
Acting on a tip-off from an informer, police have arrested the accused. When cops tried to arrest them, they fired at police to escape from the location, however, police retaliated and arrested them.
According to police, arrested criminals are habitual offenders.
Police revealed that after the robbery, criminals offloaded few bags of sugar in Nagal area. Leftover sugar was taken to Bahadarabad in Uttarakhand and sold there.
