In compliance of the orders given by the Minister of Sugar Industry and Cane Development Department, Hon’ble Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, Commissioner, Cane and Sugar, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy have issued Instructions to the Management of sugar mills for efficient management of the Sugar mill yard and proper arrangements for other basic facilities.
Giving detailed information in this regard, it was informed by the Commissioner, Cane and Sugar that sugarcane is procured by the sugar mills from the farmers through mill gates and external cane purchasing centres. Sugarcane procurement continues from sunrise to sunset at the external purchasing centers and throughout the day at the mill gates. He said that in order to facilitate the arrangement of sugarcane procurement from sugarcane farmers, instructions have been given to the management of all sugar mills that yard management of mills should be done in such a way that sugarcane farmers can do weighment of their cane in minimum time at mill gates and external purchase centers and they should not face the adversities of the weather.
It was also told by Shri Bhoosreddy, that it is necessary to have proper management of all the basic requirements in the yards of sugar mills, so that an ideal yard management system can be implemented effectively. He informed that Instructions have also been given to the sugar mill management that before the operation of sugar mills in the upcoming crushing season there should be availability of clean drinking water in the yards, shades for the farmers to rest, chairs for sitting, cleanliness of the mill, lighting and pothole-free roads in the yards.
Apart from this, the Regional officers have also been instructed to meet the farmers in the sugar mill yard to get feedback from them, so that if the cane farmers are facing any practical problem then it can be disposed off promptly.
