Sangamner, Ahmednagar: Sugarcane crop grown over two and a half-acre of land gutted into the fire due to short circuit in Partapur village on Tuesday afternoon. The damage led to a loss of crop amounting to Rs 7 lakh.
According to the news report, farmer Pandurang Bhikaji Andhale said that the power cables passed over the sugarcane field led to the short circuit causing damage to the crops. The farmers working in the nearby fields alerted the fire brigade officials. The fire tenders from Padmashree Vikhe Patil sugar mill rushed to the spot and doused the fire.
