Sugarcane crop in district under pest attack

Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane crop in district is under attack of top borer disease, reports Live Hindustan.

The disease has attacked the Co-0238 variety of sugarcane crop that has been sown by farmers in the April-May period. Farmers are spraying different pesticides to keep a check on the spread of the disease. Agricultural experts warn that this is the third generation of the disease, and if left unchecked, it could lead to significant crop damage.

Sugarcane is grown in around 51,000 hectares of area in the district and most of the farmers prefer the 0238 cane variety for cultivation.
