Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu: Sugarcane crushing at the Perambalur Sugar Mill located at Eraiyur commenced on Monday.
For the current 2020-21 crushing season, the cane grown over 7,200 acres of an area in Perambalur, Ariyalur, Cuddalore and Kallkurichi districts have been registered with the mill. The region is expected to produce 2.10 lakh tonne of cane this season.
The cane crushing at the mill was inaugurated by the MLAs R Tamilselvan and R T Ramachandran. The senior officials of the mill and the cane farmers were present during the inauguration.
