As many as 197 sugar mills are operating in Maharashtra without any glitches. The numbers of mills participating in cane crushing operations this season are more than that of last season.
According to the sugar commissionerate, of the 197 sugar mills, 98 are cooperative mills and 99 are private mills. The mills have produced 737.97 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 733.16 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.07 per cent.
Maximum sugar mills are operating in the Solapur division (45). The mills have produced 157.86 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 174.07 lakh tonnes of sugarcane till February 1, 2022.
In the Kolhapur division, sugar mills have produced 199.76 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 174.15 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.47 per cent.
