Lucknow: Commissioner, Cane and Sugar Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy informed that the Cane crushing season 2020-21 has been started in the state. The crushing work has been started by 03 sugar mills of the State i.e Morana Muzaffarnagar in cooperative sector and by Majhavali-Sambhal and Belvada-Moradabad of private sector. In the western Uttar Pradesh the sugar mills of Saharanpur region namely Thana Bhawan, Bhaisana, Khatauli, Oon, Gagalhedi, Deoband, Mansurpur, Titavi and in the Meerut region Mavana, Kinauni, Nanglamal, Simbhavali, Brijnathpur, Baghpat, Ramala, Sidhgarh and Agouta sugar mills have issued indent to purchase sugarcane. The Sugar Mills of Moradabad region namely Syohara, Dhampur, Bundki, Chandpur, Bilai, Bahadurpur, Gajraula, Raninagal, Bellary, Asmauli, Rajpura, Milaknarayanpur, Karimganj, Bijnor, Najibabad, Barkatpur, Dhanaura, Chandanpur and Agwanpur have started the purchase of Sugarcane by issuing indent or they will do so in coming two to three days.
Giving information about the sugar mills located in the Central Uttar Pradesh, the Cane Commissioner said that sugarcane is also being purchased by the Pilibhit, Bahedi and Mirganj sugar mills of Bareilly region and Indents have also been issued for cane purchase by the sugar mills of Rupapur, Loni, Hariyanwa, Ajwapur, Ramgarh, Jawaharpur in Lucknow region. In this way, these 45 sugar mills of western and central U.P., will start the crushing operations in October month and or by 2 to 3 November. SMS purchies have also been sent to farmers of these mills through E.R.P.
Shri Bhoosreddy said that it is the priority of the department to start Sugar Mills early to ensure timely disposal of sugarcane and sowing of Rabi crops. In this regard, instructions have also been issued to sugar mills for early start of crushing operations. As a result of this most of the Sugar Mills of the Western & Central Uttar Pradesh have started crushing operations from the last week of October and it is expected that the remaining sugar mills of the Western Uttar Pradesh and Central Uttar Pradesh will also start crushing operations in the next one week.
The Cane Commissioner also informed that with the early commencement of crushing operations, the farmers will be able to supply their cane to the sugar mills and thus they will be able to timely sow the Rabi crop in the vacant field, which will give them extra income as well as their sugarcane can be supplied to the sugar mills on time. Due to early supply of sugarcane, farmers will get cane price payment earlier, so that they will get enough money to spend in Rabi sowing, and will be able to buy good seeds, adequate fertilizer and inputs required for Rabi sowing. Due to the timely start of crushing operations by Sugar Mills, there is a wave of happiness among the sugarcane farmers of the State.
