Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: All eight sugar mills are ready to kickstart the 2023-24 crushing season, reported Dainik Jagran.
Of the eight mills, seven have announced their start dates. The first mill to begin crushing will be Shakumbari Sugar and Allied Industries Todarpur on Thursday, October 26.
These two mills, Todarpur and Bidvi, have been closed for the past 12 years. Todarpur sugar mill conducted a trial run last season to prepare for the upcoming season. The mill has also announced its start date as October 26.
Mill officials met with farmers in the region to discuss the upcoming season. GM Suresh Sharma assured farmers that the mill would address any problems they may have.
Kumar said that all mills are expected to begin crushing by the first week of November. Bidvi sugar mill is currently undergoing maintenance and has not yet announced its start date.
