Sugarcane dues: Farmers in Bijnor continue to protest against sugar mills

Bijnor: Farmers in Bijnor district continued to protest against sugar mills on Sunday, demanding timely payment and warned of supplying sugarcane to other mills, reported Amar Ujala.

The protest, which is being organized by Rashtriya kisan mazdoor Sangathan, began on Friday and is expected to continue until the farmers’ demands are met.

“We are demanding our legitimate rights,” said Chaudhary Vinod Kumar, the district president of the union. “We will not tolerate the oppression of farmers.”

Kumar said that farmers will not supply sugarcane to any mill that does not pay them on time. He also said that farmers have the right to sell their sugarcane to any buyer.

“If the situation does not improve, we will soon announce a major protest,” Kumar said.

Kailash Lamba, a leader of the union, said that the farmers’ protest is a fight for their rights. The protest was attended by farmers from across the district.
