Mirganj: The sugarcane department of Dhampur Bio Organics Limited’s Mirganj sugar mill organized a large gathering of sugarcane farmers. At the event, a sugarcane scientist, honored with the Padma Shri, shared methods for intercropping and stubble management, reports Live Hindustan.
Under the leadership of Padma Shri Dr. Bakshi Ram, farmers were educated on spring sugarcane planting techniques. Dr. Bakshi Ram emphasized the importance of stubble management to increase sugarcane yield. He advised farmers to apply fertilizer in the irrigation channels within 20 days of harvesting to encourage more shoots from the sugarcane stubble. Farmers were also told that they can increase their profits by practicing intercropping with sugarcane.
Information was provided on spring planting, soil treatment, seed treatment, the use of balanced fertilizers, and pest and disease management. Farmers were encouraged to adopt these techniques to achieve higher yields and profits.
MR Khan, the functional head of the sugar mill, provided information on planting sugarcane using the trench method and increasing production by planting in a larger area. General Manager of Sugarcane, OP Verma, urged farmers to cultivate sugarcane on a larger scale. He also encouraged them to take advantage of the facilities provided by the sugar mill. The sugarcane scientist advised farmers not to level the field immediately after planting. He also addressed the farmers’ questions and concerns.
Before the gathering, Dr. Bakshi Ram inspected sugarcane fields in the area. Mill officials, field staff, and local farmers were present at the event.
