Jind, Haryana: Angry sugarcane farmers from Jind blocked the Jind-Patiala national highway for more than four hours as the sugar mill stopped operating due to technical snag. Commuters faced hardship due to roadblock. Farmers
lifted the blockade after the DC Aditya Dahiya and government officials rushed to the spot and pacified farmers.
Farmers claim that the mill had started operations on November 10 after Haryana cooperation minister Banwari Lal inaugurated it. However, the mill is facing technical snag since it began operations.
According to the news report published in The Times of India, farmers said they informed the deputy commissioner and when authorities failed to meet their demands, they blocked the national highway.
Sugarcane has been sent to Kaithal’s mill till the technical issue is sorted out.
