Shamali: Sugarcane farmers in Hasanpur, Uttar Pradesh, have refused to supply sugarcane to the Bajaj Sugar Mill in Thana Bhavan, reports Live Hindustan
The farmers, who met with Deputy Cane Commissioner Om Prakash Singh at the sugarcane cooperative society in Hasanpur, said that the mill has a history of delayed payments to farmers. They said that they had refused to supply sugarcane to the mill last year as well, but had agreed to do so after the mill’s management promised to improve its payment record.
The farmers said that the mill has not yet made good on its promise. They urged Singh to intervene and help resolve the issue.
Singh has directed sugarcane secretary Bhaskar Singh Raghuvanshi to meet with the farmers and address their concerns.
Several farmers, including Rakam Singh, Sumit Saini, Aryash Saini, Sanjay Saini, Amit Saini, Pankaj Saini, Mannu Saini, Sonu, Ram Pal Singh, Sushil, Atar Singh, Rajendra, Shishupal, Sandeep Saini, Arvind Saini, and others, were present during this incident.
