Amritsar: The farmers under the banner of Kisan Sangharsh Committee staged a demonstration against sugar mill at Butar Sevian village belonging to a prominent political leader of the ruling party after the management refused cane crushing of several farmers from Hargobindpur area.
Sarvan Singh Pandher, general secretary of the organization said, “The mill administration is making a false allegation against some farmers and stating that they had created ruckus in mill premises last year.”
The farmers have threatened to halt rail traffic if their demand is not met. The heavy police force has been deployed at the mill premises. According to an organisation, the mill has refused crushing cane of nine farmers alleging that they had created law and order problems in mill premises last year.
