Panjim-Ponda: Sugarcane farmers associated with the Sanjivani Sugar Mill protested outside the sugar mill demanding the revival of the mill on Monday, reports Herald Goa.
Farmers have also demanded the government promote sugarcane cultivation and provide compensation to the farmers in time. They have threatened to continue the agitation till the government fulfils their demand else they would block the National Highway.
Rajendra Dessai, president of the Sugarcane Farmers’ Association said, “The government has cheated farmers by making false promises but we have decided this time not to call off agitation till our demands are not met. We want a written assurance from the Chief Minister to restart the sugar mill.”
