Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union staged a demonstration in front of the Ramraj police station for their pending cane arrears. They demanded to release sugarcane dues at the earliest. The agitation was called off after SDM assured them to look into the matter.
Sugarcane farmers claim due to pending cane arrears, it has become difficult for them to meet their daily needs.
The administration is monitoring the cane payment and asked the sugar mills administration to clear the cane dues or be ready to face the action. According to the sugar mills, due to coronavirus and low sugar sales, they are suffering from the financial crisis and are unable to clear the cane dues.
