Sugarcane farmers stage protest over pending cane arrears

Shamli, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers led by Kisan Mazdoor Sanghatan have launched indefinite sit-in agitation outside the Baja Sugar mill from Monday for their demands, reports Amar Ujala.

Farmers from nearby villages and organisation workers reached the site and launched sit-it agitation. Suresh Pundir, district unit head of the organisation said, “We are demanding from the mill administration to clear pending cane dues but it is no avail, therefore we are forced to launch an agitation. We will continue the agitation till our demands are not met.”

Meanwhile, the members of the RLD have decided to launch agitation at the Unn sugar mill on August 25. Ashraf Ali Khan, MLA from Thana Bhavan and others have launched a drive to visit villages and urge farmers to participate in the protest against the mill for their pending cane dues.
