Sugarcane farmers to protest outside DC’s office in Mysuru for pending cane dues

Mysuru: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association will protest outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Mysuru on Tuesday demanding the release of pending incentives, said the president of the organization Kurubur Shanthakumar, reports The Times of India.

“The state government has directed the sugar mills to pay an incentive of Rs 150 per tonne of sugarcane apart from the MSP of Rs 2,950 per tonne. But several sugar mills in Mysuru and Chamarajanagar districts have not paid the incentives to the cane farmers,” he said.

The government should ensure that the millers pay the pending incentives to the cane farmers, he said.
