Amritsar: Farmers sending their cane to the mill for crushing will get their payment within a month, said Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Agriculture Minister of Punjab, reports Punjabnewsexpress.
He was speaking at a special event organised to launch Khand Mill Ajnala.
“Sugar mills must use every waste material and should expand their plants and set up co-generation plants,” he said.
“Government is working to make cooperative sugar mills profitable and to ensure that the sugarcane of the farmer does not remain in the field till March-April,” said Dhaliwal.
“The state government has helped mills to clear pending cane dues of the farmers and at present not a single penny of the farmers is left with the cooperative mills,” he added.
