Dwarikaganj (Sultanpur): The cooperative sugar mill in the district came to a halt around 10 am for five hours on Tuesday due to a shortage of sugarcane, reported Amar Ujala.
Due to the scarcity of sugarcane at the sugar mill, the mill management released the second list of mill closures on Tuesday at noon. Once an adequate quantity of sugarcane was available around three o’clock in the afternoon, sugarcane crushing resumed at the sugar mill. According to farmers, there are hundreds of acres of sugarcane crops standing in farmers’ fields. Delays in harvesting and stripping of sugarcane are occurring due to the problem of laborers.
