Kolhapur, Maharashtra: Intensifying the agitation against the sugar millers in the state, Farmers’ leader Raju Shetti has demanded the FRP plus 14 per cent hike in the FRP per tonne for this season. Shetti made the demand during a sugarcane convention organized by his organization Swabhimani Shetkari Sanghatana (SSS). The convention was organised virtually on Monday.
Addressing the farmers online, he said, “Sugar millers should give a one-time FRP (fair remunerative price) without any cut, on top of 14 per cent hike on total FRP, on the lines of 14 per cent amount to be given to cane cutters and transport labourers for this year’s crushing season.”
“We will not accept the FRP in two or three installments and will not allow the mills the cane crushing if they fail to clear the FRP at one go,” he further added.
