Syria keen to import range of essential goods from Ukraine including sugar

Syria has expressed interest in importing sugar from Ukraine. Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitalii Koval, announced this during an appearance on Ukrainian television, reported UKRINFORM.

“We are working to establish a long-term partnership with Syria to ensure a stable and predictable food supply system,” Minister Koval stated. “As a nation that understands the challenges of war and its impact on food security, we are committed to supporting the Syrian people.”

Following his visit to Syria, Minister Koval identified the most critical needs of the Syrian population.

He emphasized that supporting Ukrainian farmers has global implications. “When Ukrainian farmers thrive, it benefits not only Ukraine but also countries facing food shortages,” Minister Koval explained.

As part of the “Grain from Ukraine” humanitarian program, in collaboration with the UN World Food Program, 500 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat flour has already been sent to Syria.
