Thanjavur: The Tamil Nadu Cauvery Farmers Protection Association expressed its gratitude towards the State government for the timely release of this year’s cane incentive, coinciding with the Deepavali season, reported The Hindu.
In a statement issued on Friday, the association’s secretary, Sundara Vimalanathan, noted that usually, the cane incentive had been disbursed during the Pongal festival, despite farmers’ requests for earlier disbursement following their cane supplies to the sugar mills. The association expressed its contentment with the State government’s decision to issue orders for the disbursement of ₹195 per tonne to those who had provided cane to the mills and the allocation of ₹253 crore for this purpose.
