Chennai: In a recent announcement, the Tamil Nadu government has approved a bonus and gratuity for workers employed in the state’s cooperative and public sector sugar mills. According to an official statement, the state is home to 16 cooperative sugar mills and two public sector mills, reported Times of India.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin stated that the employees in these sugar mills would receive a bonus this year. Workers at the Subramania Siva and Kallakurichi 11 cooperative sugar mills will receive a 20% bonus, while employees in the other cooperative mills and the public sector mills will receive a 10% bonus.
According to the statement, 5,775 workers are set to benefit from this initiative, with the combined bonus and gratuity amounts reaching ₹412 lakh.
