Tanzania: Mtibwa sugar, MVOMERO-based sugar firm has set a target to produce 38,000-tonnes sugar this season. The firm will start operations this week as the country is facing a sugar shortage.
Juma Paramba, the infrastructure and electric manager of the mill informed Energy minister Dr. Medard Kalemani during his visit to the mill that the operation will start from May 21. Dr Kalemani visited the mill after the mill management requested the government to provide an additional power supply.
During last season, the mill could not achieve a target of 32,000 tonne due to heavy rains. The government has planned to construct an independent power supply line from Msamvu substation for the mill. This will help us to operate with full capacity, said Paramba.
