Taking note of a worldwide trend of healthier drink options, Tata Starbucks is planning to offer sugar-free customisation options for customers in India. This comes after demands by consumers for healthy choices and the company’s commitment to a variety of offerings. The company is looking to offer options of sugar-free syrups apart from the 100-calorie offerings in the country, reports The Hindu businessline.
“We have a host of beverages below 100 calories-including cold brews, lattes and cappuccinos- between 0-65 calories,” said Sushant Dash, chief executive, of Tata Starbucks, during an interview. “But we also have customers wanting indulgence-Java Chip is a favourite for those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries-but we will work at reducing sugar levels in our future offerings.”
Global activities include the following: Starbucks introduced a zero-to-low calorie energy drink and is reportedly planning to offer as many as five sugar-free personalisation options by 2024, based on consumer feedback.
Tata Starbucks has just opened its first experiential speciality coffee store in New Delhi, India. It contains a wide variety of coffee using the best ingredients from the world and from India, using flavours of local tastes like jaggery, chilli, shikanji, guava, and tamarind, as a tribute to Indian culture.
“This is our first coffee experiential store, where the product range, design, and service are inspired by India’s rich flavour culture,” Dash explained. “We will have drinks like the Malabar Coconut Cream Latte, inspired by Kerala, and the Cinnamon Jaggery Latte. These are unique to India but supported by Starbucks’ expertise with premium arabica beans.”
Customers at the store will also have the option to choose from five different espresso beans, which Dash believes will help deepen the understanding and appreciation of coffee among Indian consumers.
