Anakapalli: Former MLA and TDP Anakapalli constituency in-charge Peela Govinda Satyanarayana has demanded the government to reopen the Thummapala sugar mill, reports The Hans India.
Sugarcane farmers under his leadership had organized a rally in the city demanding the reopening of the sugar mill and lifting the ban on black jaggery.
Addressing the gathering, he questioned the promise made by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding the revival of the sugar mill during his election campaign.
IT Minister Gudivada Amarnath is not paying attention to the farmers’ problems and he should resign immediately, he said.
Sugarcane farmers are being troubled by the excise department officials over the issue of black jaggery, said the former MLA.
As many as 13,000 sugarcane farmers are associated with the sugar industry, he said.
A memorandum of their demands was later handed over to the AO at the RDO office.
