Technical personnel from 27 sugar factories in UP attend NSI’s two week training programme

Two week’s training programme on “Latest Analytical Techniques for Quality & Chemical Control in Sugar Factories” concluded today at National Sugar Institute, Kanpur. The programme was attended by technical personnel from 27 factories of Uttar Pradesh.

Accurate analysis of sugarcane and sugar house products is of immense importance to ascertain quality of raw material and process efficiency so as to take corrective measures for improvement in sugar quality and productivity. We trained the participants on use of modern analytical instruments viz. Surolyzer, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Membrane Filtration Units and Laboratory Centrifuges etc. for carrying out analysis by the methods suggested by International Commission for Uniform Methods of Sugar Analysis, said Shri Ashok Garg, Programme Co-ordinator.

The training programme was essentially required for sugar factory personnel to upgrade their knowledge and will go a long way in improving the overall efficiency of these sugar units, said Prof. Narendra Mohan, Director while distributing certificates to be participants. Considering the utility of such programme, more and more sugar groups are approaching the institute for organizing such training programme and from coming Monday institute is going to conduct another such training programme for the officials of UP State Sugar Corporation factories, he informed.
